We have a mutual friend who has done this as her career. Might be worth talking to her about it.

Also, while you’re looking for the next thing, bear in mind what the thing AFTER that will be.

In other words, move towards something that will have continued growth, not something that in a few years won’t matter much any more.

IT is sort of an example. There was an extreme shortage when IT first became a necessary aspect of doing business. Now, there are a multitude of IT professionals and it’s not easy for all of them to find work. Certainly not as easy as it once was.

I think I’m just ranging too far from my core competencies on this one. I’m going to focus more on the electrical power industry now. All these energy auditor type jobs are mechie/civil jobs in disguise.

Hey Johnny,

The first part sounds easy because it said “administration of contracts”. Not writing or negotiating, but following through. Any work you ever done with a partner company (e.g. Moto) was the “administration of the contract” that your employer had with the partner.

As for the rest, they want a General Contractor, IMHO. Oh well.

I haven’t looked into “green” jobs here yet. My goal is a particular not-for-profit NGO.

Hmmmm…I’ve had some of the same thoughts about NGOs. If I ever got the opportunity, I’d pursue work in that field.

The best tool so far has been the ‘Freedom’ application for my Mac. It’s amazing how much work I can get done when online gaming, Facebook, bored Wiki searches, and email are ‘out-of-bounds’.

Update: so far, so bad. This week, managed to work on everything EXCEPT the big overdue project. I didn’t realize what a master procrastinator I am!
